Developing renewable energy sources to promote sustainable development at the centre of the cooperation agreement between the University of Adrar and the University of Pisa
Adrar region, located in the centre of the Algerian Sahara and particularly rich in palm trees, whose waste is virtually unused for energy and biomass-to-electricity, the agreement between the University of Adrar and the University of Pisa, signed on 25 June 2024, aims to develop renewable energy sources to promote sustainable development and also to develop the capacity to develop innovative technologies.
For his part, the Rector of the University of Pisa, Professor Ricardo Zucchi, enthusiastically welcomed the new collaboration between the University of Pisa and the University of Adrar, and expressed his satisfaction with the results of the initial research presented on bioenergy. He expressed his desire to see this collaboration develop, both in the field of energy and in other cultural areas of mutual interest, and emphasised the importance of international action in building a future characterised not only by innovation, but also by unity and brotherhood.
In the same context, the Rector of the University of Adrar, Professor Benamar Mohammed El Amine, pointed out the history of positive relations between the two countries and that under the actual leadership of the two countries, there seem to be more opportunities and conditions that support and encourage the creation of more paths of cooperation and partnership between the two countries in various fields. In the context of these conditions, the Rector added that this is the right moment in his belief to start building more realistic and fruitful links of partnership and cooperation between academic institutions in the two countries, in order to strengthen the strategic relations between Italy and Algeria.
